Bodywork

health : energized harmony : love

In English, health is defined as a condition of wholeness, or freedom from separation. It is therefore akin to the word harmony. “To heal” means to make whole or to bring back together that which has been separated (as in healing a wound or a relationship). “To harmonize” is a good synonym. Cure is a word used in English meaning to eliminate a problem (such as pain, grief, trouble). It comes from another word meaning “care” or “concern”. Taking both words into account, it would be quite proper to equate healing with loving.

I am drawn to massage for its exquisite demonstration of our innate need for touch. Touch is a unique physical, sensational, quality that brings us into our complex bodies and can transform pain energy and discord into health and harmony. Touch encourages orientation to and connection between our inner and outer landscapes and helps us to discover unconscious aspects of ourselves.

In my work I provide space for the unique processes of embodiment, unfolding, and healing to occur. I generally work quite slowly. In this way we can ask very concise questions and in turn listen to the body's sometimes extremely subtle responses with greater acuity. That being said, there are a great many ways to communicate with the body that I regularly utilize as needed with each individual. I operate from a center of love and strive to be grounded and provide a safe container for authenticity and healing to emerge. Massage is a very intimate and energetic exchange in which I honor my client's needs and communication.

I specialize in Myo-fascial Therapies that explore the possibility of change in how you use and experience your body. Through education, awareness, and therapeutic touch, you can release painful, stressful patterns of tension. Effortful habits are replaced with feelings of comfort, ease of movement and posture, and a sense of whole-body coherence. We will address your body as a whole, generally over a series of sessions. Skillful touch brings relief from pain and discomfort, and awareness of how you’re holding and using your body. As we inquire into how you relate with your body and environment, you may come to recognize patterns of tension that no longer serve you, and discover new options for movement, posture, self-care, and your overall physical experience. Rather than treating symptoms, I will work to help your body integrate internally between systems, and externally toward your life’s challenges.

I also specialize in Intra-oral Therapy that focuses on the muscles both inside and outside of the mouth, jaw, neck, throat, cranium and cervical spine. Treatment can help reduce headaches and the discomfort associated with jaw tension, migraines, grinding teeth, chronic sinus problems and ear congestion, tinnitis (ringing in the ears), injuries and strains, accidents, TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder, and emotional trauma.

With presence, patience, and some guiding touch, we can shift closer to equilibrium and expanded awareness to catalyze physical, emotional, and spiritual healing, integration, and growth. I have over 10 years experience practicing bodywork and am ceaselessly in awe at the beauty and healing that occurs with attentive and loving touch.
